About the event
Artificial intelligence presents an opportunity for publishing and media organisations to better understand customers, power dynamic user experiences, and increase efficiency of internal processes. But to capture the opportunity, organisations need a structured approach which brings together a diverse range of stakeholders.
FT Strategies, in collaboration with the Google News Initiative, invite you to join us for an opportunity to accelerate your organisation's AI capability at this full day workshop tailored specifically for Nordic news publishers. Experts from FT Strategies will facilitate this design workshop with your cross-functional team to identify opportunities for using AI and practical next steps suitable for your organisation. You should assign 3-5 individuals to the team, drawn from a wide range of departments, but with editorial, commercial, and tech departments as a minimum. All sessions are designed to be relevant for all, and collaboration is a core tenet of the programme.
This Design Sprint will be taking place in-person on Friday, 31 May at Google's Stockholm offices.
On the day of the workshop you can expect to:
- Explore the problem space to identify relevant use cases for AI
- Think strategically in order to prioritise potential AI use cases
- Learn from industry case studies
- Design potential solutions
- Create a set of actionable next steps for developing designed solutions and AI capabilities more broadly
Applications will close Wednesday, 8 May 17:00 CET.

About the Event
Artificial intelligence presents a major opportunity for news and media organisations to better understand audiences, build dynamic user experiences, and unlock sustainable revenue advantages. To capture that opportunity, teams need a structured approach that brings together diverse stakeholders and focuses on commercial impact.
The FT Strategies AI Commercial Lab, supported by the Google News Initiative, is a full-day, hands-on workshop supported by virtual preparation sessions. Across the Lab, your team will explore commercial applications of AI, select a priority use case, and define practical next steps to begin implementing AI within your organisation.
Your organisation should assign 3–5 team members from across your organisation, including an executive sponsor who can drive change at your organisation after the programme concludes. Collaboration is central to the Lab, and all sessions are accessible regardless of prior AI experience.
The AI Commercial Lab will be taking place in-person in March 2026 at the Google Offices in India.
On the day of the workshop you can expect to:
- Explore key commercial levers for applying AI in your organisation
- Prioritise high-value AI use cases based on your business goals
- Learn from practical examples and industry inspiration sessions
- Design a blueprint for a targeted AI experiment in your commercial business
- Define clear next steps to support ongoing AI implementation and long-term success
Applications close February 2026
